The other night, as we lounged in your room, lights dimmed and listening to music, you said you were in a great place. I asked if you meant in life, or if you meant in this moment. You looked at me and said: “This moment. I feel like I’m floating.” I didn’t say anything, but I hope you know that I was floating too.
Today, I ran into an adorable couple on Coventry. They were trying to find Tommy’s, a cozy, highly vegetarian/vegan restaurant and a Cleveland Heights favorite. The couple was young, and reminded me of Warren Wilson students. They told us that they were from Los Angles, hitchhiking to Occupy Wall Street. Although our encounter was brief, I was moved by their energy, and how incredibly positive they were. After we led them to Tommy’s they wished us a beautiful day, and in doing so, made me more optimistic about people as a whole. It’s striking how the small moments are often the most profound.
